Learn before Labor | Heal after Birth

Live Well while Mothering

1 in 3 women reports poor bladder control after labor and delivery and over 60% of pregnant women experience urinary incontinence. Expectant moms have plenty to do and consider before their precious bundle arrives. Let Abdominopelvic Health assist in the preparation by empowering you with knowledge and supporting your health through the instruction of beneficial and practical strategies that you can immediately implement into your daily routines.

More than 70% of women are unable to properly contract their pelvic floor muscles one year after giving birth and 2 out of 3 moms experience Diastasis Recti (separation of abdominal muscles) after carrying their second child. First and foremost, allow yourself time to heal. It is extremely important to manage expectations and not attempt to “pick up where you left off” in your exercise routine, the pace of daily tasks, and the juggling of roles and responsibilities. One step at a time, by attentively placing one foot in front of the other!

We offer therapeutic treatments related to: optimal biomechanics to protect your mending body while you care for your newborn, strategies to manage scar tissue, task adaptations to decrease joint stressors and painful symptoms, breathing techniques to manage intrabdominal pressures, functional assessment to appropriately return to exercise with a focus on movements to restore your pelvic floor and core, and mindfulness strategies to encourage mental and emotional health during this dynamic lifestyle change. You are not alone; we will help you develop practical skills and a supportive network!
